After the Anthropocene Book Launch and Celebration

Join Avalon Park Press in celebrating the publication of the poetry collection, After the Anthropocene, by Denver poet, Jordan Wyberneit. This event will feature spoken word readings from the collection, as well as live music by Denver based musician, Meghan Clarissa Cave.

Free and open to all!

Jordan Wyberneit is low-key feral, gently heathen, & wildly autistic. She whispers 'I love you' to hummingbirds and hornworms. Her work centers on systems of life, hybrid identities, and the complications that inform modern human experiences. She holds an MFA in Poetry from Regis University and MS in Data Analytics from Colorado State University. She values justice, mercy, humility, kindness, and grace. After the Anthropocene is her first collection of poetry.

The Paradigm of Past and Present: A Poetry Workshop of Contrasting Time

Avalon Park Press and the Fool's Kava House are hosting a poetry workshop and spoken word open mic!

How can we create definition in our art by placing opposing ideas beside each other?

This workshop aims to find truth in poetic opposition. Participants will examine samples of creative contrast and then make their own art.

Guided by Austin-based poet, Die Lunte, participants will identify particular moments of the past and the now and collage them into a unique work of poetry. Artists can choose to share the art they created in the workshop or previously at a concluding open mic.

Please bring a journal or paper and writing materials. Excited to see y'all at the Fool’s Kava House in Arlington, Texas.

Avalon Park Press Book Signings at The Twig Bookstore

Stop by the Twig Book Store in the Pearl District of San Antonio for a meet and greet with the poet and a signed copy of Cicada Songs.

Equal parts confessional, epic poem, philosophy, and societal critique, Cicada Songs is an anthology of narrative poems daring to ask the big questions.

“Part One: Thesis” describes the disintegration of a flawed romantic relationship, during a period of pandemic, climate change, and overwhelming digitalization.

“Part Two: Antithesis” reveals a profound existential crisis upon coming to terms with the inherent brokenness of the world. A search for life’s meaning ensues.

“Part Three: Synthesis” copes with the grief of living in a profit-driven society. Lunte finds solace in the beauty and serenity of nature. The poet is reminded that love is the reason.
